Our communication sucks, plus friday night sucks

Guys,

I have the impression that we need a more instantaneous comms than via forums.
When even a guy like Scca, who lives across the pond, begins to complain that we dont get to play in ANY strength anymore recently, then we have a serious issue imho.

What we have here is death in thin slices!

Suggestions to improve the situation:

I have seen that some time ago we had a Ventrilo server running. I use this prog with my friends over here to communicate while playing, so I have it isnatlled by default. I tried to connect, but it seems to be down.
Is there a chance to bring it back up? It would be useful to log on and check who is there anyways.

I still have a membership on yahoo (I think), so I could install a mailing message system we all know already. Write an email at Blahblah@yahoogroups, and everybody registered receives.


I really love to play with you folks, and maybe I missed a lot of you guys in the last 2 weeks, but I think what we have here is a chronic problem we need to find a solution for.

Well I am very honest now, dont get me wrong, I am not upset, call it sad maybe.

I cannot play with you other than fridays, at least not at that times of days you mostly come online. That was 3am for me recent last weeks, when I have played 2 or 3 hours already without my squad, and due to that begin to be bored and tired.

I will have to go a step further, and now please be honest to me, is there any chance that this situation WILL change on fridays, at all?
Please think honestly about that. I see no reason for me to kill my sleep like that when I fly alone without you.
If you cannot answer this one, I must say farewell
I just cannot keep it up.
FSO absolutely doesnt cut it for me as a single event, dont get me wrong, it might be some icing on the cake when I manage to stay awake that long, but as a single event, nope.

So what do you think? Solutions? Opinions?

We are down to 6 players on active duty, You, Me, Grey, Eld, Borzo, and Phyco (softail). Borzo is quite infrequent normally, Softail has been on travel, so that leaves 4 of us, plus you.

With the low numbers, and it being summer time here it's not easy to understand why no one is on when you are on. I have been trying to increase the size of the squad but limited success.

Grey can chime in, but wouldn't be cool if we had a euro time slot extension of the 613th. It's worth thinking about.

I wish I could join you on Fridays sir, but the weekends are family time for me.

thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! What happened to SkiMan? Isnt he active anymore?

About the "Euro" time slot, well, I am sure I could talk my lady into another day inside of the week, but sundays and saturdays are off limits, its "us time"... so same restrictions the other way around...

What would be the timeframe we would be talking of? 5-6 hours plus timezone-crap isnt easy to overcome
I know you guys have to work for a living too, so I guess 6-7pm would be the earliest to come online, what would be the time I would have to hit the sheets...

It just plain sucks arse, pardon my language...

It really does suck. I usually can not get on before 9 on Fridays. My wife and I usually go out to dinner and by the time I'm back it is at least 9. So I can't really promise much. Weekends I sometimes can play, but it's not a set thing. As SCCA says it's much more difficult to find anyone playing with our small numbers.

Need to recruit some Euro pilots for the squad.

Something I have been kicking around in my head is switching countrys between Knights and Rooks every tour like the AK's. This might allow us to increase our chances of recruiting some new members. That's one idea.

I do like the idea of an email box. I have a blackberry so I get Emails real time. I don't log into the forums everyday. At least when an email pops up that your getting on maybe I can log in for a while...I sometimes get home at around 4:30 EST. Maybe we could hook up then.

Not sure how we fix this, but I do feel your pain.
